Studies show that learning to understand ourselves increases our ability to understand others. The Theory of Mind is the ability to infer and reason about other people’s thoughts, beliefs and intentions.
Being able to understand the perspectives of other people improves cooperation and reduces stereotyping, and is a crucial skill required for success in our everyday social life.
People who are able to recognize and identify their own emotional responses are better able to recognize and identify the emotional responses of others, resulting in increased empathy.
